Diabetes and the eyes
With 3% of the UK population affected by diabetes, it is recommended that anyone
with diabetes has their internal eye health checked annually. Our fully qualified
optometrists will monitor the images closely for future comparison.
With careful blood glucose monitoring and care, a person with diabetes can prevent
significant eye damage, without this and frequent eye care checks, the diabetic
retina can often display ‘haemorrhages’, ‘cotton wool spots’ and ultimately if left
unchecked end-stage retinal detachment.
