Carrera
Carrera
Carrera Eyewear was established in 1956 by Austrian sports eyewear maker Wilhelm Anger
Werker and was inspired by the Carrera Panamericana auto race. Known for his pioneering
work, Wilhelm Anger designed and patented the ‘Optyl’ material in 1964, heat hardened
plastic weighing 20% less than acetate, improving frame fit and reducing allergic reactions.
Since then, Carrera glasses have featured in many Hollywood blockbusters and been
spotted adorning the famous faces of Brad Pitt, Gwen Stefani and even Britney Spears to
name but a few.
